{"id":311,"date":"2016-11-26T18:41:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-26T18:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/conference.usbln.org\/2017_conference\/?post_type=people&#038;p=311"},"modified":"2019-02-15T09:46:07","modified_gmt":"2019-02-15T09:46:07","slug":"jenny-lay-flurrie","status":"publish","type":"people","link":"https:\/\/conference.disabilityin.org\/2019\/people\/jenny-lay-flurrie\/","title":{"rendered":"Jenny Lay-Flurrie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jenny Lay-Flurrie has a passion to see people reach their full potential\u00a0including people with disabilities.\u202fJenny is\u00a0Chief Accessibility Officer\u00a0at Microsoft leading\u00a0our efforts to drive great products, services and websites that empower people and\u00a0organisations\u00a0to achieve more.\u00a0Her team\u00a0is at the forefront of creating positive experiences that apply technology to make a difference in the world and the lives of individuals\u00a0from how we hire and support people with disabilities in employment to innovative technology that aims to\u00a0revolutionize\u00a0\u2018what\u2019s possible\u2019 for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Jenny\u00a0is also\u00a0Chair of\u00a0DisAbility@Microsoft, an employee resource (affinity) group focused on \u201cEnabling people to be successful regardless of ability or disability.\u201d With the help of her team and broad community within Microsoft, Jenny leads many initiatives to empower people with disabilities both in and out of Microsoft. These initiatives range from creating the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/answerdesk\/accessibility\">Disability Answer Desk<\/a>\u00a0which provides specialist customer support to people with disabilities to hosting the annual Microsoft\u00a0Ability Summit\u00a0which focusses on empowering attendees (800+\u00a0last 3 years) with the inclusive and innovative thinking necessary to enable people around the world.\u00a0Also\u00a0instrumental in projects such as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news.microsoft.com\/stories\/independence-day\/\">SoundScape<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the Microsoft Ability Hackathon which has supported over 270 Hackathon teams focused on\u00a0empowering people with disabilities with new technologies and capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of Microsoft, Jenny\u00a0is the\u00a0current board\u00a0chair\u00a0of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/disabilityin.org\/who-we-are\/board-of-directors\/\">Disability:IN<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0was recognized as a \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/champions\/disability-employment-champions-of-change\">Champion of Change\u2019<\/a>\u00a0by the White House in October 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-311","people","type-people","status-publish","hentry","conference_group-track-chairs"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
